Soda Caustic Tanks

Read more: Soda Caustic Tanks

Soda caustic tanks are exclusively in use in the aluminium industry for etching out the aluminium of extrusion dies.

In such tanks, high concentated soda is being used. So the liquid is heated, up to approx. 90 – 95° Centigrade. Afterwards the extrusion dies are inserted into the tank. By inserting of the dies, there is a reaction with the aluminium and the soda, so that the temperature exceeds 100° Centigrade. The dies will be „cooking“ for several hours in the hot soda.
After this cleaning time the aluminium is „eaten out“ from the die.

Similiar to the ultrasonic tanks, several tanks can be placed in a row, e.g. to work with different concentrations, to have a higher capacity, or to add a rinsing tank.

To achieve a satisfying final cleaning result, the extrusion dies have to be wet blasted after the soda process.

With our wet blasting systems, the dies are being cleaned perfectly and even simultaneously polished (see description Graf wet blast process).

Ultrasonic Tank

Read more: Ultrasonic Tank

This system is designed as manual execution. The moulds to be cleaned are loaded with a stainless steel basket (small parts) or directly immersed with a crane (big, heavy moulds).

Then the ultrasonic elements are being activated. The parts and dies stay in the tank until the desired cleaning grade has been reached.
A typical cleaning time of moulds is between 5 and 20 min, depending on the dirt level.

Afterwards the moulds are taken out of the ultrasonic tank and are washed in the rinse tank.

Further tanks for neutralisation, de-watering, rsp. drying of parts, can be delivered depending on the customer requirements.

Graf Special Systems

If there are applications, which cannot be covered by one of our machines from our permanent standard product range, we manufacture special wet blast systems, which are designed exactly for the part / workpiece to be treated.

Due to a big quantity of special machines we have made in the past decades, in most cases we can use an existing design / construction of similiar systems, so that we don´t have to start from zero.

It is easier and more economic to adapt such a machine to our customer needs, than creating a completely new design.

Some examples of our special machines we have made until now:

Further examples can be shown in our company.

Compact II Automatic

Read more: Automatic Systems

This machine type is the smallest automatic wet blast machine, we produce.

In the past years, from this machine type, we have developped 3 versions for different applications.

The Compact II Automatic with swivelling oscillation is used for defined edge honing and surface treatment of carbide inserts.

The Compact II Automatic with tube drive is in use for edge honing and surface treatment of round tools, like drills, end mills, taps, etc.

The Compact II Automatic with vertical oscillation is our universal machine, as it can work with different fixtures for carbide inserts, round tools, hobs, moulds and others.

All of these machines offer an electrical, frequency controlled turntable, which swivelles out at opening the loading door, so that it can be loaded fast. Also every machine has a oscillation unit with 4 blast guns.

Via the additional left door, maintenence works can be done, with a very good access.

As all of those machines are equipped with a colour TouchPanel, various recipies can be stored and loaded. Status messages are also displayed.

The whole unit is located at the front in a swivelling rack.

Behind the machine, the filter unit is placed, which is used to filter out dirt. Additionally the tank serves as a reservoir to rinse off the blasting media from the tools, with a pneumatic diaphragm rinse pump via circuit water.

Economy Automatic

At the automatic versions of the Economy series we offer two different versions:

Read more: Automatic Systems

The Economy Horizontal Automatic is designed as a low cost alternative to the Standard versions.

At these machines the moulds or dies which have to be cleaned are being placed on the stable turntable made of Polyurethane. The turntable is being rotated electrically during the bast guns are oscillating over the turning turntable. The oscillation movement can be either in step mode or continuously.

The Economy Vertical Automatic with Satellites have been developped to edge hone, deburr, activate or to polish shank tools, hobs, inserts or or tool holders (depending on the used blasting media and the parameters).

The wet blast systems of the Economy version are machines which are reduced to the most important functions, but they meet definetely our high quality standard.

Our smaller wet blast pump is installed here, which is absolutely powerful enough for the 4 blast guns, which are installed in those machines. This model is not made to offer many options, in contrast to the Standard-versions. Also the used stainless steel sheets are not polished, which is just an optical difference. These and some other points allow us to offer a more price sensitive machine.

The Horizontal model has a loading station, which is mounted at the right-hand side, with a trolley made of stainless steel and a turntable made of high ressistant Polyurethane (PU). So heavy parts can be loaded easily onto the table and into the machine.

The Satellite model has a unit with several satellites, which swivels out, so that they can be loaded and unloaded comfortably and fast.

Standard Automatic

Read more: Automatic Systems

This machine model is available in different sizes:

From the 1,25 m wet blast machine up to the size of 2,4 m. These measurements describe the square size of the blast chamber.

As a characteristic of the Standard version is the extreme robust and stable execution, our bigger, extreme powerful (2-speed) highly wear resistant wet blast pump, as well as the fine polished stainless steel finish.

As additional features, the Standard comes with a cyclone to do a easy and fast blast media exchange (of the broken media), a possibilty to measure the concentration of the blasting media, and the possibility to install the loading station either at the right or the left hand side.

The Standard has an automatic blast gun oscillation unit, which runs horizontally across the turntable either in step mode or continuously.
Additionally a loading station with trolley and high resistant turntable made of Polyurethane, as well as a filter tank made of stainless steel with rinse pump and an electrical turntable drive with frequency inverter.

As additional features, the Standard can be delivered with several options, like electrical vertical doors, with a second loading station, with a second trolley and turntable, with an automatic rinse process, etc.

All the relevant process parameters are adjusted and controlled at the OperatorPanel, which is installed at the front of the machine.

Due to the robust execution and the powerful blast pump, this model is perfectly made for the treatment of very heavy and big parts and moulds, as well as for expensive parts or moulds which have to be blasted gently.

Rotative and Indexing Automatic Machines

Read more: Automatic Systems

Our rotative and indexing automatic machines are the most productive machines we are offering.

With those machines different applications are being solved, e.g. when huge volumes of parts or big moulds have to be wet blasted, as well as when a washing or drying process should be integrated in the machine itself.

At those machines, the loading and unloading station is always outside the process chambers.

At our rotative automatic machines, the process steps are either done one after the other. In this case the total running time is longer and the operating person can do other (more time consuming) jobs. This is the case at the cleaning of extrusion dies.

The dies are loaded onot the big turntable. Then the wet blasting, rinsing, washing and drying process start. After that they are being unloaded at the loading / unloading area again. The dies are blasted simultaneously from top and bottom, so that they don´t have to be turned. The oscillation works in three axis with 6 – 8 blast guns, to ensure perfectly cleaned dies.

The well dimensioned loading / unloading area allows also a loading of heavy dies with a crane.

The other working principle of our indexing machines is, that all stations are working simultaneously. This ensures that all process steps, like loading, unloading, blasting, rinsing, washing, blowing, drying, etc., are processing at the same time.

If such a machine type is chosen, then certain requirements have to be given, e.g. that the parts can be loaded on a fixture or tray, which runs or indexes through the machine.

Our rotative or indexing automatic machines are available in many variations and are designed from 2-chamber to 8-chamber systems.
They are also being made according to the specifications from our customers.

With many of those machine our team has made innovative developments and has set the standard in different applications, which can be seen as unique in the world, due to our long experience.

Compact II Manual

Read more: Manual Systems

This machine type ressembles our smallest manual machine.

There are 2 doors. The right hand door opens by 90° to the ground. At this side the turntable is swivelled out. This feature offers an easy and fast loading possibilty. As this machine has no loading station, the advantage of this principal is that the water which drips down from the cleaned moulds or parts, will flow back into the machine.

The additional second door at the left hand side is for maintenenance purposes within the machine. Above the front window is the control panel, where all machine functions are accessed, adjusted and monitored. At the back of the machine, the filter tank unit is located, which seperates the dirt, or oil / grease which is blasted away.

Secondly, it works as rinse tank with a manual rinse gun, so that the cleaned moulds and dies are being rinsed of from the blast media, by using cyle water.

This machine version is available in different sizes:

It ranges from the 1,25 m until the 1,80 m version. With these sizes, the square dimension of the machine itself is defined.

Typical features of the Standard models are the extreme robust and solid execution, our extrem powerful (2-speeds) highly wear resistant wet blast pump, as well as the fine polished stainless steel finish. A additional features include the cyclone, mounted at the back side of the machine, so that the (broken) blasting media can be exchanged quickly out of the system, and the possibility to install the loading station at both sides of the machine.

The Standard version is equipped with a loading station with trolley and a high wear-resistant turntable made of Polyurethane. As an option, a filter rinse tank made of stainless steel with pneumatic diaphragm pump, as well as an electrical turntable drive with frequency inverter can be delivered.

Above the front window is the control panel, where all machine functions are accessed, adjusted and monitored.

Due to the stable construction and the powerful blast pump, the machine is made perfectly for the treatment of heavy and big parts and for expensive moulds with a sensitive surface.
